Band E

36 hours per week


To maintain Wirral's Play Areas, Outdoor Gym (Fitness Equipment) and Multi-Use Games Areas by carrying out a range of maintenance operations including inspection, cleaning, maintenance, repairs and replacement of equipment, surfacing and all site furniture, including signage, seating, fencing and gates. 


Carry out regular site inspections of all play areas and outdoor gyms etc. and carry out safety checks of play equipment, surfacing, fencing, site furniture and gates, completing report for each inspection. 


Identify, priorities and report any defects, faults or repairs that are needed or have been completed using the appropriate format.


Carry out regular routine maintenance and repair of all specified equipment and safety surfacing to ensure equipment is in a good and safe working order and ensure that the areas are free from litter, broken glass etc.

 

To ensure maintenance and repairs are undertaken in line with manufacturer's guidance, and appropriate health and safety procedures followed, including the use of tools and equipment.


Operate light plant, machinery and power tools in order to clean and maintain sites and to remove and install equipment and site furniture.


Carry out a range of maintenance and cleaning duties, e.g. rake sand and bark, remove and or treat weeds and moss, paint equipment, lubricate bearings and remove graffiti etc.

 

Drive allocated vehicles in order to carry out general duties.


Comply with and adhere to Health & Safety at Work Act and Security Act requirements in order to adopt safe working methods.


Install new equipment and site furniture when required, as per the manufacturer's installation instructions and any layout drawings issued, to precise measurements.


Assist with accident records and reports, and if required prepare statements with Council's legal representatives . When required attend court and give evidence on behalf of Wirral Council.
