Band PO10

2 vacancies – 36 hours per week

Two fantastic opportunities have arisen to join a forward-thinking local authority to capitalise on emerging opportunities to generate economic growth. Wirral Council is recruiting two Economic Development Leads within the Place & Investment Team to be at the forefront of shaping and delivering our economic growth plans.

Wirral has established clear ambitions. Over the last 5 years, the Wirral Growth Plan has brought partners together to drive physical regeneration, inward investment, employment, skills and business growth. Wirral is a key player within the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, working closely with the Local Enterprise Partnership to maximise economic growth opportunities arising from devolution to deliver the area's full economic potential. With responsibility for coordinating the Council's role in multi-million pound physical regeneration projects such as Wirral Growth Company and Wirral Waters, commissioning large scale employment programmes, and developing key strategic business, investment and skills partnerships, this is a high profile, key priority service.

We are therefore seeking experienced, dynamic and commercially aware economic development professionals. You will join a high performing focussed team, working with a range of partnersacross the public and private sectors to develop and deliver complex and transformational economic growth initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a broad range of economic development skills and a proven ability to work at pace, motivate partners, and deliver results. Applicants with relevant experience across any areas of activity detailed in our 2019-20 Growth Action Plan (see website) are welcomed. We are particularly keen to meet candidates with specific experience in urban design and planning policy, large scale physical regeneration or inward investment to complement the diverse range of skills we currently have in our team.
