Teacher of Science and Animal Care
Required April 2021 or sooner if possible
Did you come into teaching to make a difference?
Are you committed to changing lives and improving outcomes for all young people, regardless of barriers?
At Wirral Hospitals’ School, the answers to both of these questions is yes and we are looking to add to our Outstanding team.
A vacancy has arisen within our STEM Faculty for a permanent, part-time Teacher of Science and Animal Care (0.6) from April 2021, or sooner if possible.
Wirral Hospitals’ School is an 11-16 Resource for young people who are unable to access mainstream education due to health issues. We are an Ofsted Outstanding school and you will be joining a vibrant, enthusiastic and happy staff team, who are fully committed to ensuring the best outcomes for all our young people.
You will be a well-qualified, dynamic and outstanding teacher who is passionate about teaching science and who believes that all students have the ability to progress and succeed.
The successful candidate will primarily be an outstanding teacher of science, with an interest in also teaching the BTEC Animal Care course and a willingness to become the Lead Teacher for Animal Care following an appropriate degree of training and experience. Teaching allocation is approximately two thirds science and one third animal care.
You will have experience of teaching at least one science to GCSE level, preferably to students with complex needs, and a willingness and ability to teach other science subjects to GCSE level as required. Some experience of teaching BTEC Animal Care would be advantageous, although not as essential as a keen interest in the subject. You will have a sound working knowledge of the barriers to learning faced by young people, particularly those with ASC and mental health difficulties.
Visits to the school, pre or post the application closing date, are strongly encouraged.
Closing Date: Friday 4 December 2020
This post is subject to an Enhanced Level DBS check.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
