Wirral is home to vibrant, energetic and engaged communities, people who take real ownership of their local area and are passionate about making Wirral a better place. The council and its partners have pledged to #BeTheDifference.

We’ve got ambitious targets to meet by 2025. To achieve everything we have promised to our residents, we need people who are driven and ready to deliver the very best for our communities - #BeTheDifference.

Applications are welcome from suitably qualified educational psychologists or psychologists in their final year of training on an accredited course to join our diverse, creative and innovative team.  Candidates should be effective communicators, have good interpersonal skills and have sound knowledge about current practice in Educational Psychology and legislation concerning special educational needs.

Wirral has recently received national commendation for 'most improved council' and has a reputation for excellence and high achievement in schools. The Psychology Team is an expanding, friendly service that is well regarded with all stakeholders. We have a well-established consultative model of service delivery that values the application of psychology, innovative practice and professional integrity.  We place emphasis on the importance of professional judgement and are using a wide range of tools and approaches for different levels of work.  The service is well placed within the Children and Young Peoples Department to play a key role in the implementation of the SEND Reform programme and the development of person-centered approaches.

Wirral EP Team provides regular opportunities for continuous professional development to promote up-to-date professional practice of a high standard. We have a dedicated Admin Team, access to a range of ICT supports, including laptops, mobile phones and voice recognition software such as the Dragon programme.

This is an opportunity for you to bring your experiences, enthusiasm and initiative to apply psychology on Wirral in a dynamic and solution focussed way

We can offer you:

A supportive EP Team housed in excellent accommodation

Relative security and stability from a centrally funded LA

Structured induction and a high level of supervision

Full access to CPD opportunities and contribution to wider strategic agendas

Opportunities to develop specialisms and knowledge and working within wider arenas

Excellent dedicated administrative support
